Feminine Wounding

I think to look at the wounds of the sacred feminine we need to identify some unwounded feminine aspects

  • Nurturing

  • Healing

  • Intuitive

  • Emotionally Supportive

  • Compassionate

  • Receptive

  • Sensitive

  • Powerful

  • Magnetic

  • Cyclical

  • Inclusive

I feel its also important to note that the feminine wounds are not only found in women, everyone can hold these wounds from aspects of themselves being supressed through the pressures of a patriarchal society. There are some things that we all need to heal from as a collective, to achieve unity.

The wounding of the sacred feminine comes through in many ways, for example:

  • ancestral patterning - for instance, the mother being in the home and the father being the breadwinner. If this pattern is in your ancestry then if you are a woman you may feel that you cannot be financially independent, or as a man you may feel a huge pressure to provide on your own. Either way, clearing these patterns allows both parties to stand in their own individual power.

  • witch wound - this wound is still prevalent today, sometimes the mere mention of the word ‘witch’ will invoke a negative reaction. Coming from a long history in the UK where women and men who displayed signs of ‘knowing’ or using herbal preparations to help others were killed, this wound has caused sensitivities, intuitive behaviour and natural healing to be suppressed and hidden due to the ancient fear of being burnt or drowned or the family being torn apart. Whether of not you know of this in your family’s heritage - how do you feel when you hear the word ‘witch’ ?

  • the patriarchal society - set up to ‘give structure’ to society, the patriarchy still underpins most of our systems here in the UK - financial, legal, education, health, etc and unfortunately women were not seen as equal to men within those systems - it is a top down approach which focussed on control rather than nurturing. This has lead to many feeling that they have to supress their feminine aspects and emasculate themselves in order to succeed and thrive in the workplace - remember those shoulder pads and straight cut suit jackets of the 80s? Remember the term ‘man up’ being used to encourage the suppression of sensitivities?

So those are a few of the ‘bigger’ ways that we can see the wounds of the sacred feminine, but often they come through into our lives in very subtle ways:

  • the way a parent spoke to us about the role of the feminine in the world which patterned the beliefs of their parents, which then set up a belief in us, that we then lived in the energy of unaware that it was a falsehood. Healing from this will stop this pattern from continuing.

  • feeling unsafe or uncomfortable in expressing knowings or feelings about things that don’t have a ‘scientific backing’ for fear of being judged, bullied, abused or shut down.

  • not fitting in with the subjects taught at school leading to feeling ‘wrong’ or not knowing your place in the world. Going into a career to please others or because that is ‘what you do’ and trying hard in a world that you don’t thrive in and possibly burning out or becoming unhappy.

There are many more ways that the wounds of the sacred feminine can manifest in our lives but its a complex web of life and we all have unique pasts, unique experiences and ancestral lines.

We can all start with becoming more aware of ourselves and exploring our behaviour and our beliefs. We can all check in with our lives and make sure we are living in ways that allow us to thrive and be well. We can notice when we connect with our feminine aspects and behaviours and celebrate the changes that it brings into our lives and how we feel within ourselves.

We can take action, speak our truth and gather together to nurture each other. We need to allow the power of the sacred feminine to rise. We all know that women and men are different shapes and have different functions but to create a balanced and harmonious world, as with everything in creation, we need both the masculine and feminine aspects within us to work together.
